If there is absolutely no way you can be at the call-backs the whole time, you still need to be here at 2:30 to receive further instructions. For your own good, you also need to try one more time to do what you have to do in order to be here the entire time.

Noises Off Audition Update

Please note that we have added a 2nd Call-back for Saturday morning, December 8th.
After call-backs on Friday, we will post another (but much smaller) call-back list for Saturday. This is also when we will be able to read any V.E. kids we may have wanted to call-back who ABSOLUTELY CANNOT be at the call-backs Friday.
A Cast List will go up Monday morning the 10th and the first cast read-through will be after school that day.

UTA Theatre Conference

The UTA Theatre Conference will be held at BYU Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2008.
All theatre students are welcome and encouraged to attend. We will take workshops, see plays, and have an amazing experience with theatre students from every high school in the state.
The cost to attend is $65.00. This fee covers all conference events, workshops, performances, conference T-shirt, and attendance at the Saturday evening banquet.
THIS MONEY IS DUE Monday, December 10, 2007. Pay in the Main Office and bring Mr. Long a receipt.
This is a very fun and educational experience that all theatre students should attend.

If you are a senior, you can also have the opportunity of auditioning for scholarships at the conference. Representatives from University theatre programs from all over Utah and the surrounding area will be there. You can audition for them all in one shot. If you are intersted in this, you need to talk to Mr. Long by December 10.

Come prepared with a 1-minute comedic monologue. There is no singing or dancing in the show.

Anyone and everyone is encouraged to audition.

This is pretty much the funniest play ever written. Rehearsals will be held after school starting in January. Performance dates are March 7-8 & 10-11, 2008 in the HHS auditorium.

Character Descriptions are posted outside the Drama room.

Call-backs will be held Friday, December 7 after school.

NOTE: A second call-back will be held Saturday morning, Dacember 8 at 10:00am.

Shows are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights at 7:00 with a matinee Saturday at 1:00.

Breathe

This is your last day to breathe.
I'm so excited to be working with all of you all day every day starting Wednesday.
Remember that "Beauty & the Beast" rehearsals are full cast every day after school until we release you. And Saturday 11/3, Monday 11/5 & Saturday 11/10 are all day rehearsals. So exciting. Please bring your "A" Game. Oh, and your "I don't want to ruin Mr. Long's life by being loud and obnoxious during rehearsal" Game. That'd be good also.

Hillcrest Performing Arts Autumn Social!!

This Friday, October 26, there will be a social for all performing arts students! That includes Bandestrazz, Choral Music, Theatre, Dance and Stage Crew.

When: Friday October 26, 2007 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Where: The chapel at 1850 East 8600 South (check choir and theatre rooms for map)

Please come! There will be relay races, games, and an ugly pumpkin decorating contest! ALSO: there will be a costume contest, so come dressed up!

Picture Wall

If anyone has pictures of Hillcrest theatre events from this year or last year, PLEASE give them to Mr. Long or any member of the theatre presidency so we can hang them up on the wall! Hanging pictures up on the wall is a great way to contribute to the theatre program and it also guarantees you eternal fame forever!

Headshots!

Douglas Carter Photography is coming on Friday, September 21 to take head shots. His work is amazing and if you are interested in doing theatre outside of high school, I would highly reccomend you getting your headshot done with these guys. Its very very cheap as headshots go. For $45 you get the CD of all your shots plus an 8x10 print. This is a very good deal! Pay the main office and then bring your receipt to Mr. Winkelman in the counseling center and he will schedule your time.
PLEASE NOTE: All Beauty & the Beast lead roles need to have their headshots taken for the program, therefore you need to schedule a time with Mr. Winkelman. You do not need to buy the package, but I promise you'll want to once you see the product.

Parent Meeting!

Thursday Night for all cast members of Beauty & the Beast, plus any member of the Performing Arts Department who is interested in raising money through HPAA for tour (or other reasons). There will also be a preview of Spring Tour, so make sure your parents are there in the auditorium!

Beauty & the Beast auditions

Auditions for "Disney's Beauty & the Beast" will be held Tuesday & Wednesday, September 4 & 5 after school in the choir room. All HHS students are invited to audition. You will need to bring 16 measures of a song to sing (it is highly reccomended you sing something from a Broadway musical). You can come on either day, but don't need to be there on both days. Invitation-only call-backs will be held on Thursday & Friday, Sept. 6-7. See you there! NOTE: This show rehearses after school through November.

Theatrical Photography

Wow, what a important-sounding title! Just a little note from your historian: If you want pictures to appear on the picture wall in the theatre room, just give them to me and I will put them up. Please do not put up or take down pictures without talking to me first. The picture wall is a living, breathing creature and thus, we need to respect it. Actually, that was a complete lie. But please respect the pictures and the wall anyway.

Party!

The first Hillcrest drama club party will be held after school on Friday, August 31, 2007. Come and meet the new Theatre Presidency, eat food, watch skits, hang out with friends and see the unveiling of this year's Theatre Department theme! It will be amazing!

Shakespeare auditions!

Auditions for this year's Shakespeare Competition Team will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007 after school in the theatre room. The sign-up sheet is posted on the theatre room doors. Come prepared with a 1 minute Shakespearean monologue. If you do not have a monologue, we will provide you with something to read at auditions.

The Team will compete at the High School Shakespeare Competition in Cedar City Oct. 4-6. It's a lot of fun. You really don't want to miss out on this experience.
