After functioning as a Festival for 10 years, the UHSAA officially re-instated the State Theatre Competition this year.
The 4A State Theatre Competition was held April 12-14, 2012 at Timpview High School in Provo.
Over 250 pieces from 21 4A high schools from across the State competed for various trophies and medals.
It is our pleasure to announce that Hillcrest High School was awarded the 2012 1st Place Sweepstakes trophy and the Hillcrest theatre team members are now STATE CHAMPIONS!
All 23 Hillcrest pieces received a final Superior rating, and 21 of them received medals for scoring Straight Superiors from all judges. This is quite an accomplishment.
In addition to the 1st Place Sweepstakes Award, Hillcrest also received the Superior School Award and the following other medals:
---1st Place Contemporary Scene: Bradley Mackay & Malia Morley for The Fourposter
---2nd Place Classical Scene: Taylor Larsen & Hailey Unice for Pericles
---2nd Place Humorous Monologue: Marcela de Moraes for Tickles
---3rd Place Pantomime: Stevie Cooley & Krista Spainhower for Scary Movie
---3rd Place One-Act Play: Hillcrest High School for J.B.
An additional congratulations to Ben Graul, Jack Vawdrey, Grace Carlson, Eli Gerber, Jacob Virgin, Tyler Emeney, and Gregory Jack whose pieces were chosen as finalists and invited to compete in the final medals round for their respective categories.
Once again, congratulations to the entire team for achieving this truly special accomplishment.
